When my mother introduced me to yoga as a little girl I instantly fell in love with it. After playing around with asana in my early childhood I started reading about Iyengar yoga and Sivananda yoga in my teens, creating my own practice based on what I read!
I took my first proper yoga class whilst studying Naturopathy in Sydney in 2000. I did my teacher training in 2004, and primarily practiced Iyengar yoga, loving the attention to detail and the mindfulness of the body that it created.
In 2005 my husband and I moved back to Fiji where we co-manged a cafe in Nadi and I taught yoga classes. In 2008 we got itchy feet again and left Fiji for Europe.
We managed to find work on a beautiful superyacht that took us to all corners of the Mediterranean and Caribbean for 4 years.
In February 2012 we made a trip to India to further our study of yoga at the KYM in Chennai. During this time my husband and I fell in love with Ashtanga yoga, practising every evening after yoga school at KYM!
Now back in Fiji again (since that life changing trip to India), we have 3 beautiful sons. I am blessed to be a mother and still have a daily Ashtanga practice (MOST of the time!!!).
My teaching style is based on the Ashtanga system of breath, bandha and drishti within asana. I am not a certified Ashtanga teacher... yet! It is definitely a goal of mine.
I continue to study & practice yoga and learn from inspiring teachers as often as possible. I believe the most important aspect of the practice and most things in life is the intention behind it.
May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words and actions of my own life contribute to that happiness and to the freedom for all.
